How Cities Use Parks for Green Infrastructure

Description:

The position of the ASN is that in order to receive equal rights and protection, all people must have access to parks. The Outdoor Advertising Association of America (OAAA) has proved in a number of key cities throughout the United States that outdoor advertising may be both effective and economically beneficial. Despite this, there are still significant barriers to park usage.

Key Points:

  • Allowing for the integration of parks and open space is clearly more beneficial than developing parks alone.
  • Cities may use parks to preserve essential ecological processes and biodiversity.
  • Parks can assist shape city form and buffer incompatible uses of land by being included as part of a system of green infrastructure.
  • Parks may help cities save money on public cleaning, flood control, transportation, and other infrastructure services.
