Description:

The Green City, Sustainable Neighborhoods course is an introductory course that teaches students a strategic approach to prioritizing conservation opportunities and a planning framework for environmental and development integration — integrating the green and the grey. Participants will learn firsthand how the green infrastructure technique may be used to integrate environmental, social, and economic health in towns, suburbs.

Course Objectives

  • Explain the ecological and societal advantages of green infrastructure, as well as its design principles;
  • Planning and developing green infrastructure networks at the statewide, regional, and local levels is discussed.
  • Describe the options for financing and putting in place green infrastructure plans.
  • Compare and contrast successful methods for integrating green infrastructure into land conservation planning.
