On January 26, 2010, the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC) hosted a webinar featuring two of NARC’s 2009 Regional Centers of Excellence (RCEs), the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (Philadelphia, PA) and the Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission (Green Bay, WI). Both organizations worked on projects to improve communication.
In the webinar, RCEs discussed methods for including green infrastructure concerns into regional planning efforts, such as transportation, land use, and regional food system planning.
The presentations addressed RCEs’ challenges and achievements in influencing local land-use planning and decision-making, as well as green infrastructure considerations, challenges that regional planning organizations confront when they have land use authority, integrating green infrastructure and transportation planning efforts, and connecting green infrastructure with food system planning.
