Call for Environmental Research Ideas

Description:

The Center for Environmental Excellence at the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) invites you to submit your favorite transportation and environmental research ideas to the database. It’s a “one-stop” shop for keeping track of transportation professionals’ research ideas across the environmental spectrum, according to the TERI database.

AASHTO makes a special appeal for new TERI ideas every spring. After new suggestions have been collected, the Center works with AASHTO’s Standing Committee on Environment (SCOE) to select and fine-tune a selection of the best TERI proposals for NCHRP funding.

AASHTO utilized TERI to submit 13 research concepts for funding through the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP) last year, including nine ideas for the fast turnaround, environmentally-focused NCHRP “25-25” program and four proposals for funding as full-scale NCHRP projects. These typically cost between $200,

Please use the internet suggestion submittal website (link below) to submit your research ideas. The deadline for submitting TERI research proposals is Friday, March 13th. Please be advised that if you have previously submitted an idea to the TRB’s Research Needs Database, we will now copy these concepts into TERI. You may submit your proposal.

The webpage offers a template for submitting research suggestions. To assist the SCOE Committee in evaluating your concept, please include a precise title, an explanation of scope and information about the expected timeline and budget. This will aid the committee in determining the immediate need and appropriate funding source. We hope you will encourage your coworkers to provide ideas as well.

Thank you very much for assisting us in identifying the most promising environmental research ideas. Please contact Kate Kurgan at 202-624-3635 if you have any queries.
