Description:
The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (NUCFAC) advises the Secretary of Agriculture on the status of America’s urban and community forests. The Council seeks to establish long-term sustainable urban and community forests by promoting communities of all sizes in maintaining and protecting their natural resources, which if well managed, may improve people’s health.
The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council has modified its grant categories and procedure to the Forest Service’s National Urban and Community Forestry Challenge Cost Share Grant Program in order to award $1 million in funding this year. They expect that $1 million will be available. The money will be split into two main categories: Innovation Grants, which are designed to focus.
Out of the $500,000 available, one or more grants may be granted in this category. The Best Practices Grants category has smaller awards that will assist Council in implementing new urban forestry best practices or establishing needed best practices for urban forestry activities. A maximum of $50,000 can be given per application from the $500,000 total.
